Ghanaians Asked To Unite Through Resurrection Power Of Christ The Anglican Archbishop of Accra, Rt Rev Dr Mensah Torto has charged Christians not to waiver in their faith but still have hope in God to deliver them through the challenges of life. Delivering the sermon to mark resurrection Sunday on the theme "Weep not, all is not lost" Archbishop Torto said Christ's victory over death should strengthen the resolve of Christians to live just and faithful lives to help overcome the challenges the country is going through. He charged every individual to contribute the quota towards national development and desist from acts that will draw the clock of progress back. Christians yesterday marked Easter Sunday with church services to express their joy about the risen Christ. At the Cedar Mountain Chapel Assemblies of God, East Legon, the Lead Pastor, Rev Dr Stephen Wengam delivering his Easter message asked the two major Political Parties, the NDC and the NPP to put aside their differences because the resurrection of Christ signifies reconciliation of mankind with God. He said the day gives hope for the future and represents power over sin and death. Rev Wengam also called on all citizens to help fight corruption of every kind. The General Overseer of the Believer's Grace Prayer Ministry at Adentan, Prophet Joseph Atarah has urged Christians to be honest, as the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ bring newness of life. Delivering a sermon at an Easter service, he asked Christians to be truthful at all times including honouring their tithes. He cited the example of Ananias and Sapphira in the bible who short changed God with their offering and suffered death. Prophet Atarah said accepting Christ as Lord and Saviour and believing in the resurrection is an onerous challenge which must be taken up by all Christians. He stressed the need for all adherents of the gospel of Christ to let transparency and honesty guide their actions to enable them to become role models for others. The Head Pastor of the All Souls Baptist Church at Amrahia, near Adenta, Rev Seth Okwei Noi, has called on Ghanaians to cultivate the act of forgiveness as a prelude to peace and cohesion within society. In a sermon to mark resurrection day, Rev Noi urged Christians to look up to the sacrifice of Jesus and cultivate the act of forgiveness. He emphasised that bearing a grudge against a fellow man hampers reconciliation and called on traditional leaders, opinion leaders and citizens in conflict areas across the country to let go all grudges and reconcile in order to promote peace and development. Rev Noi spoke against rumour mongering and said rumours add to unnecessary tension in society which when not well handled, degenerate into conflicts with the resultant disturbance of the peace. He urged Ghanaians and Christians in particular to let the import of Easter which he said is love, permeate all they do. The Madina District Pastor of the EP Church, Rev Dr Benjamin Quanson, says the challenges confronting the nation are not the doings of any single individual or a particular party. There is therefore the need for concerted efforts to tackle them. He said sitting on the fence and criticising will not help matters but rather compound the problem. Rev Dr Quanson was speaking at a baptismal service for 18 new members of the Church which coincided with the resurrection of Christ. Meanwhile, our Eastern Regional Correspondents report that apart from the conventions, retreats and Special Easter services held to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the occasion was also used for other church activities such as baptism and mini harvest.
