Mauritius declares a day of national mourning following severe floods that  killed at least 11 people 

A day of national mourning has been declared on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, where at least 11 people have died in severe floods.
Torrential rain hit the island's capital Port Louis on Saturday. 

The Mauritian weather service says isolated thunderstorms could cause further flooding in the days to come.

Speaking on national radio, Prime Minister Navin Rangoolam said Mauritius was suffering badly from the effects of climate change.

Reports say the floods caused chaos in the city, with a huge traffic jam paralysing its centre, L'Express de Maurice.

More rain was expected on Sunday, and people were advised to stay at home.
