73 students of Bolgatanga Senior High Technical suspended

Seventy three students from the Bolgatanga Senior High Technical Institute have been suspended indefinitely for not respecting school authorities and violating the institution’s rules and regulations. 

Authorities of the school said, the students were found disturbing public peace during a birthday celebration of a fourth year catering student (name withheld) of the institute. 

The Headmaster, Alhaji Alhassan Umar disclosed this to Radio Ghana during a visit to the school premises. 

Narrating the story, Alhaji Umar, said on Sunday, 17th March, 2013 at about 11:00pm, he received an anonymous call that his students were drunk and misbehaving at a spot in town. According him, he quickly deployed some teachers to the scene to confirm the claim. 

Some of the students, he noted, took off when they saw the teachers but others refused to show remorse even though they identified the teachers.

To that effect, Alhaji Umar said, a team was tasked to investigate the matter. The team concluded that seventy three students, majority being in the final year attended the birthday party. 

Authorities decided to suspend all the 73 students with immediate effect. 

The action according to Alhaji Umar, would serve as a deterrent to all students who disregard school rules and regulations. 

Meanwhile, the affected final year students would be given a chance to write their final year examination which is currently on-going.
