Leadership Of Teachers Express Satisfaction With Outcome Of Meeting With President Mahama The leadership of teachers has expressed satisfaction with the outcome of a meeting with President Mahama. TEWU says, it will meet with its Council on Tuesday to discuss calls by the President to suspend the strike. President of TEWU Peter Lumor, told Radio Ghana that the union is prepared to go back to the negotiation table with the GES and Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to iron out the issues. He commended government for the meeting, acknowledging the union's happiness that the President appreciates that in the GES, there are teaching and non-teaching staff. The Public Relations Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Earl Ankrah says the commission is ready to dialogue with TEWU and urged them to bring their complains before it. Speaking on our Current Affairs Program, Behind the News, Mr. Ankrah said the commission has done all it can to resolve the grievances of TEWU but they keep coming back with the same issue. President, John Mahama, on Monday summoned the teachers’ groups to the Flagstaff House to listen to their concerns and to appeal to them to get back to the classroom. Barely a week after embarking on strike with several attempts by various stakeholders to persuade them to get back to the classroom proved futile. The meeting also attended by the TUC and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, has been described as fruitful and the various teacher groups are saying they are going to communicate what transpired at the meeting to their members and take a final decision.
