Present utility crises partly linked to excessive use of services 

The Director, Public Relations and External Affairs of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission -PURC, Nana Yaa Jantuah has said the present utility crises are partly due to the excessive use of the services. 

She noted that there is too much wastage in the use of water and electricity, resulting in the short supply that the nation is experiencing now. 

Nana Yaa Jantuah explained that the PURC has decided not to increase electricity tariffs as demanded by the VRA, because many factors have to be taken into consideration before adjusting tariffs. 

Meanwhile, CEO of the consumer Protection Agency Kofi Kapito was of the view that the Electricity Company of Ghana and other essential services must operate a 24 hour schedule.
