Security Swoop- Clamp Down On Illegal Small Scale Mining Activities Around The Obuasi Municipality

The National Security has started an operation in and around the Obuasi municipality to clamp down on illegal small scale mining activities. 

On the first day of the operation, 45 Chinese nationals engaging in galamsey in the area were arrested and their various mining equipment impounded. 

The suspects and some of their confiscated items have since been transported to the head office of the National Security in Accra, Our Ashanti Regional Corespondent Nicholas Osei Owusu reports that the operation will continue until all the identified mining sites are shut down.
