Fishermen Council expresses gratitude to government

The Fishermen Council has expressed gratitude to government for subsidies on premix and outboard motors. 

They have however appealed for the construction of landing beaches along the coast to be expedited.

The Council, led by the Chief Fisherman of Moree, Nana Kwegya, called on the President at Flagstaff House in Accra.

Their visit was also to protest against a group under the guise of the Council that called on the President two months ago. 

Nana Kwegya, is the Chief Fisherman of Moree in the Central Region.

President Mahama, said artisanal farmers are an important component of the country's economic growth. 

He stated that premix subsidies cost government one hundred and 50 million Ghana cedis a year and this places a responsibility on the fishermen to pay back quickly outboard motors sold on hire purchase to them.
