Initiative to award females in local government sector introduced 

The Institute of Local Government Studies with support from the German Technical Assistance Organisation, GTZ, has introduced an initiative that seeks to award women in the local government sector. 

The project dubbed "Celebrating Female Role Models in Local Governance in Ghana", recognizes the impact women at the grass roots are making in the local government sector.  

For a start, the Institute has awarded 10 women, one from each region who has contributed to decision making in their localities.
