Brutal murder in Kumasi

An unidentified assailant early today allegedly attacked a family at Abuakwa near Kumasi in the Ashanti region and succeeded in severing the head of a 14-year old JHS Two student of the Tweneboah Kodua Junior High School, Isaac Opoku, popularly called Akwasi Yeboah.
 
The deceased’s 18-year old sister, Rita Opoku, a form Two student of the Kumasi Anglican Senior High School, and their mother, Mrs. Felicity Opoku who sustained serious wounds are currently on admission at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital receiving medical attention. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana in Kumasi, a sister of Mrs. Felicity Opoku, Doris Effah also known as Ama Ketewa, who is an eye witness to the attack and escaped unhurt, said the incident occurred at 1 am today. 

According to her, she, together with four others, made up of the deceased, the two surviving victims and a friend of Mrs. Opoku were all sleeping at the hall of her residence at Abuakwa near the Police Station when they were attacked by a man. 

According to her, the entire incidence occurred to her like a dream but woke up to the reality only to find Mrs. Opoku praying in tongues for God’s intervention with blood oozing from her arms.  Rita Opoku was also attacked for raising an alarm during the incident. 

Maame Ketewa explained that it was when she was looking for a material to clean the blood that she saw Yeboah lying on the bed lifeless with the heads and body separated while the sister had also sustained serious body injuries and had to be rushed to the hospital. 

She said the identity of the assailant was not clear because the community had a light out at the time. 

However, one of the women at the hall at the time said she saw the man in a yellow cap over white ‘T’ Shirt over a khaki pair of trousers. 

The eye witness denied any knowledge of a feud between the affected family and any other person of group of people that could result in such a fatality. 
 
According to her, already, the father of the children, Reverend Opoku, who is the founder and head of the King Jesus Anointing Ministry at Asuoyeboah, who died about three weeks ago is scheduled to be buried next two weeks. 

Meanwhile, the Abuakwa Police have commenced investigations into circumstances surrounding the incident while the body of Yeboah has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s morgue pending investigation into the matter.
