Parliament pays tribute to women Parliament has paid glowing tribute to Ghanaian women for their contributions to the development of the country. In a statement on the floor of the House to commemorate International Women Day, the First Deputy Chief Whip and Chairperson of the Women Caucus in Parliament, Hajia Mary Salifu Boforo reminded governments all over the world to pursue policies aimed at improving the lives of women and promote their overall development in society. Reflecting on the theme of the occasion; “Gender Agenda- Gaining Momentum” she stressed the need for women to be given good education, access to credit to build their businesses and the necessary social protections to express their God-given talents. MP for Tano North, Freda Prempeh also made similar statement to mark the day. She dwelled on violence against women. GBC
