MP’S reactions to 2013 budget statement
 
There have been varied reactions to the 2013 budget statement dubbed “Sustaining Confidence in the Future of the Ghanaian Economy” .

While some believe it contains exciting packages for the realization of President Mahama’s vision for the nation, others observed that it was just a repackage of the unfulfilled  old promises to Ghanaians. 

To the Deputy Majority Leader Alfred Agbesi ,the areas of concern to Ghanaians have been captured in the budget.

The Chairman of the Finance Committee, James Avedzi said even though the budget indicated temporary freeze on the creation of new models under the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Authority, it doesn’t mean freeze in the creation of jobs.

The Ranking Member on  the Finance Committee of Parliament, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei  says the budget did not touch on the specifics of the various sectors. He said the “hows” of getting the targets set-out in the budget were not indicated and it makes it assessment difficult.

The General Secretary of the PNC Bernard Monarh  was happy about efforts to address income inequalities in the budget but was unhappy about the over reliance on the importation of food into the country.

The MP for Yagaba Kubori and member of the Parliamentary Committee on Mines and Energy, Mustapha Ussif said there is nothing in the budget that excites him.
