Madina decongestion will be sustained - Albert Drovu

Pedestrians and vehicles can now move freely in the La-Nkwantanang Madina business centre. 

This is due to a decongestion embarked on by the La-Nkwantang Municipal Assembly on Monday. 

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Albert Drovou, said the exercise has so far been successful. 

He said the decongestion exercise at the Zongo Junction stretch of the Tetteh Quarshie-Pantang Highway will “continue even after the end of this year.” 

According to him, they don’t want to fall victims to what befell other municipal assemblies that embarked on decongestion exercise but appears to have failed at it. 

Speaking to journalists, during the decongestion exercise in the municipality Mr Drovu said exercise will be sustain even after the end of the year.

The decongestion exercise began in the early hours of Monday, March 4, 2013. 

He indicated that traders have been asked to move into two newly-built markets at Madina Estates and Ogbojo, whose market is known as the Nsamanpom Market. Most of the traders, however, have complained of high cost of sheds in the new markets.

But Mr Drovu stressed that the decongestion will continue till all the traders have been moved and illegal structures removed in order to free the Highway for the contractor to continue work.
