PURC blamed for current electricity crisis The VRA says failure by the PURC to give energy providers cost reflective tariffs in the last thirteen years is partly responsible for the current electricity crisis. The other reasons include high crude oil price and the excessive demand over supply of electricity. The Chief Executive Officer of VRA Kwaku Awotwe Andoh, has therefore called further reforms such as transparent rules by deregulators and the establishment of Ghana's own Gas Company. Speaking at the Presidential Ball of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors dubbed Surveyor Week, Mr. Awotwe Andoh said until the necessary reforms are implemented the current crisis could degenerate further.
