Over 1,000 displaced by storms in Northern region One thousand two hundred people are said to be displaced in two separate storms that hit the Northern region. The first to be hit is Gushiegu some few days ago and now Yendi township. The DCE for Gushiegu, Alhaji Alhassan Fuseini, told GBC's Radio Ghana that relief items have since been flown to Gushiegu. He said some assistance including roofing sheets have been supplied and they expect more in the coming days. He said four JHS and one SHS blocks were affected and frantic efforts are being made to put the place in order. The DCE for Yendi, Mr Zakaria said the damage caused is widespread. He noted that the number of schools affected is worrying. Mr. Zakaria enumerated the number of items destroyed. The Northern Regional Coordinator of NADMO, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulai Slim Boma said a team has been put in place to assess the damage caused. He said more relief items will be distributed to arrest the situation. GBC
