KATH medical team commended for surgical feat The Ministry of Health has commended the team of seventeen (17) medical doctors and nurses at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, KATH, for their feat in successfully carrying out a delicate surgical operation to separate female siamese twins who were joined at the abdomen, pelvic and intestines. In a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Dan Osman Mwin, the Ministry says it is proud to be associated with the medical team led by Prof. Francis Abangatanga, for putting their expertise, knowledge and experiences together to carry out the nine-hour nerve-racking surgical procedure which led to the separation of the three-month pair of siamese twins. In a statement, the Ministry acknowledged the fact that the feat was the second to be chalked up by Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in twelve years. The Ministry of Health has therefore assured the team and other health professionals who have succeeded within the constraints of inadequate state-of-the-art medical equipment that they will be rewarded at the appropriate time to serve as a motivation to others to give off their best in the discharge of their duty.
