Ghana’s Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the Akufo Addo led government wants a relationship with the world driven more by trade than aid.

According to the Vice President, Africa has to understand that the process of leapfrogging must be homegrown and implemented in full.

"The potential for leveraging technology for growth in Africa is huge. We need to tap it urgently."

The vice president who is in in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, for the fifth annual World Government Summit, was speaking on the topic, “Leapfrogging developments: the African story.

The summit is being held from Sunday February 12 to Tuesday February 14, 2017.

According to him Africa has to understand that the process of leapfrogging must be homegrown and implemented in full.

“The potential for leveraging technology for growth in Africa is huge. We need to tap it urgently.”

The President of Guinea, Alpha Conde who is also AU Chairman, was co-panelist to Dr. Bawumia on Sunday.

The World Government Summit is a global platform dedicated to enhance governments' around the world.

It convenes over 3,000 government leaders and policy makers, private sector executives and renowned experts from worldwide.

Vice President Dr. Bawumia will return home on Wednesday February 15, 2017.
