The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Mrs. Sun Baohong, has expressed China’s continuous support to improve on the bilateral cooperation between the two countries and build capacity of Ghanaians in ensuring a strong local government system.
She indicated that the existing projects between the two countries would be strengthened and pledged their readiness to complete the ongoing borehole drilling projects in six Regions to facilitate development.
The Chinese Ambassador said this when a delegation called on Hajia Alima Mahama, the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development in Accra.
She expressed her appreciation to the Minister for the warm reception accorded the delegation and promised to continue with the existing relationship between the two countries.
The Ambassador presented a developmental proposal for the country to the Minister for study and consideration and appealed to her to also submit a comprehensive proposal to the Chinese Embassy for support.
Hajia Mahama thanked the delegation for the visit and stated that China had advanced in local governance and decentralisation programme and Ghana would learn from their experience.
The Minister hinted that the ministry was putting up a strategic plan which would be made available to the Chinese Embassy for study and collaboration.
She, therefore, called for support for unit committees, area and town council to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.
She acknowledged the Chinese investment in Cape Coast Kotokroaba Market and appealed to the Ambassador to involve Chinese Business Community to undertake more projects in the country.
